  • Academic Calibration ProcedureThe procedure provides instructions to ensure the academic calibration process at the University is applied comprehensively and consistently across colleges.
  • Academic Credit and Recognition of Prior Learning PolicyThis policy sets out the University’s framework for credit and recognition of prior learning (also known as advanced standing) within an overarching pedagogical and quality assurance perspective. It applies to applicants seeking admission to the University and enrolled students seeking course transfer or credit in their current qualification.
  • Academic Dress ProcedureThis procedure outlines the academic dress that should be worn at University graduation ceremonies and on such occasions as Council determines.
  • Academic Freedom and Freedom of Speech PolicyThis policy governs how the University is committed to and supports the exercise of academic freedom and freedom of speech. This is a defining value of the University and should not be unnecessarily burdened by restrictions other than those imposed by law and set out in the principles of the Model Code.
  • Academic Staff Promotions PolicyThis document defines the policy covering academic promotion at the University for higher education (HE) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) academic staff members. It should be read in conjunction with the Human Resources Policy, the Academic Staff Promotion Procedures, the University’s Staff Code of Conduct, and the Charles Darwin University and Union Enterprise Agreement 2018.

  • Adjunct and Honorary Appointments ProcedureThis procedure defines the mechanisms for the appointment, review, renewal and termination of adjunct or honorary appointments, and defines the rights and responsibilities of adjunct and honorary appointees.
  • Admissions PolicyThis policy outlines the principles for admitting students to the University, and describes the process for applying to courses at the University.
  • Alcohol, Drugs and Other Substances PolicyThe intention of this document is to outline the University’s position with respect to alcohol consumption, illicit drug abuse and/or substance misuse, and the consequences to health, academic achievement, relationships and employment from any misuse. This document also outlines the University’s support programs for staff and students who may have alcohol, drug and/or substance abuse problems.
  • Alternative Public Holiday ProcedureThis document gives effect to clause 46 of the Charles Darwin University and Union Enterprise Agreement 2022. It sets out the process in which employees negotiate and apply for alternative days to take a public holiday.
  • Animal Ethics Committee Complaints, Grievances, and Non-compliance ProceduresThese procedures provide clear guidelines on the handling of complaints, grievances and non-compliance regarding the use of animals for scientific purposes. These procedures ensure fair, effective, confidential processes that accord with procedural fairness and the principles of natural justice to all parties, whilst giving priority consideration at all times to the wellbeing of the animals.
